STEAM Week is Coming!

Hello Harbor View!

STEAM Week is coming!  Next week, April 24-28, we will be doing a variety of experiments/activities/events during the school day to show the importance and value of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) in our lives.

In addition to our planned activities for each school day, we will be having a series of after school events for our community to enjoy!

On Monday, April 24, we will be showing the award-winning movie, Hidden Figures, in the MPR from 5:00-7:30pm.  This movie tells the story of three extraordinary African-American women who were instrumental in one of American history's greatest endeavors--sending an astronaut into orbit!  As an added bonus, we will have free popcorn for anyone in attendance!

On Tuesday, April 25, Harbor View will be hosting Scott Burnett, a nationally-recognized speaker.  Mr. Burnett delivers a highly engaging and informative talk on Managing Technology in the Home: Cyber Safety for Parents.  If you feel overwhelmed by social media and have concerns about everything from recognizing cyberbullying to being social media savvy, this is a conversation you do not want to miss.  It will be in the MPR from 5:00-6:30, and we will have FREE babysitting available to anyone who would like to attend but can't due to child care issues!

Finally, on Thursday, April 27, we our proud to be hosting our 2nd Annual Family STEAM Night.  Not only are we lucky enough to have CPK and Mixed Bakery providing for purchase dinner and dessert from 4:00-5:00pm, but from 5:00-7:30, you and your child will have the chance to participate in 3 different STEAM activities led by students, teachers, and local STEAM vendors!  With over ten different activities, there is something for everyone!!

I hope you will join us for any and all of the three after school activities next week!  It's going to be a blast!
